Aaron Hammer has been turning wood on the North Shore of Oahu since 1996. Originally from Kansas City, Aaron moved to Hawaii after living abroad Israel, India, and Nepal.
All of Aaron’s works are made from previously felled Hawaiian trees. Aaron likes working on a lathe because he “works from the center of the log both physically and spiritually... transforming it into a finely finished and cherished object.”
Indeed, we believe all of Aaron’s works masterfully blend nature and craft.
Lathe-turned from a solid log of Mahogany.
A poorly treated Mahogany tree was removed from the HECO base yard in "Olomana, Kailua on O"ahu several years ago. This is the artist's favorite Hawaiian grown wood to work with.
