Hawaii master craftsman Mark Stebbins creates extraordinary platters from Hawaiian woods. After Mark lathe-turns the ~14” diameter platter, he carves a ¼-inch raceway in the center of the platter. Then, Mark carefully inlays segments of wood to form exquisite patterns including Plumeria, Woodrose, Seeing Stars, Interlace, and Supernova. Mark is always creating new patterns for his platters.
Mark Stebbins is a master woodturner, woodworker and business owner along with his wife, Karen on the Big Island of Hawaii. As a woodturner for over 15 years, Mark has specialized in traditional Hawaiian forms along with contemporary creations utilizing the wooden canvas that nature has so graciously supplied. From wood selection to final finish, his goal is to create the finest, heirloom quality wood art available anywhere and his work can be found in numerous private collections around the world. Professional memberships include the American Association of Woodturners, Hawaii Forestry Industry Association, Hawaii Wood Guild, West Hawaii Woodturners, and the Big Island Woodturners, where he is a former president.
