Hawaii craftsman Pat Kramer is a versatile wood worker ranging from exquisite lathe-turned umeke to free-form carved wood pieces and furniture.
Pat creates Hawaiian umeke with lids using Hawaiian woods like Milo. He believes the shape of an umeke is perfectly-proportioned and timeless. He is passionate about the graceful curves of the umeke narrowing down to the bottom of the vessel almost invisible when it is standing. Pat has excelled in shaping lids for many umeke that fit exactly to the circumference of the vessel, no small task.
Pat loves using various Hawaiian woods because he believes Hawaii has the most beautiful woods in the world. Pat has been featured in juried shows throughout the United States and still believes Hawaii is blessed with the wide variety of beautiful woods that grow on the Islands.
