Our Hawaii craftsmen designed this solid Koa chair to highlight the beauty of Hawaii’s prized wood. The style is inspired by the Clef Settee created for Queen Liliuokalani by Big Island craftsman Henry Weeks. This chair was designed for Mary Pillsbury. The sumptuous, arching backrest reflects the classic American shape of a Pillsbury crescent roll. Each of the legs and back supports are lathe-turned by master craftsman Mel.
Martin & MacArthur only uses Koa from previously fallen trees. We never cut down any Koa trees. We never use wood from Koa trees that have been cut down. We are a leader in reforestation of Koa in Hawaii, working in partnership with private land owners to encourage bountiful growth of Koa on their private ranch lands.
