Phillip Gagnon is an ordained Lutheran pastor serving the North American Lutheran Church. He lives in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada and has always loved art - he is self-taught and since he was a child he’s drawn exploring various mediums over the years and of late has been focusing on oils. He finds much joy and peace putting brush to canvas while expressing his appreciation of the beauty of creation to be found all around us. In his art, Phillip hopes to draw people into the energy and beauty of the moment he first experienced.
Phillip loves to travel this gorgeous world we share and paints various scenes from his travels including the West coast and Rocky Mountains of Canada. Since first coming to Maui 12 years ago Phillip fell in love with the beauty of the Hawaiian islands. On one trip to Maui he met Roy Tabora and since then has been mentored by him, becoming good friends enjoying a good scotch and painting together over the last few years learning a great deal from this modern master and friend.
“Being a third generation artist and a professional for over 37 years, I’ve been privileged to meet countless artists whose vision and artistry have been an inspiration. Not as common is meeting those with the heart of an artist, which to me, is the foundation on which skills, techniques, and processes are best anchored. Phillip Gagnon is such an artist. This is evident in his work which causes the viewer to not merely see, but more importantly, to feel. To me, this is what adds the most value to the art.” - Roy Tabora
