Big Island craftsman Scott Green carves this large set of the Hawaiian Islands from solid Koa harvested where he lives on the Big Island of Hawaii. Scott has been a fan of maps and topography for a long time. He now applies his passion to carving Koa, the wood of the Hawaiian monarchs.
Each Hawaiian Island is topographically accurate, although I would not suggest using Scott's carving as a hiking guide! The set of eight Hawaiian Islands is best mounted on a wall to be admired by all.
You will notice the distinct grain pattern of the Koa on each island. Koa is known for its pleasing grain and curl. It was first harvested by the warriors of King Kamehameha, the Great, for weapons and canoes used to unite the peoples of the island chain.
This carving of the Hawaiian Islands is available exclusively at Martin & MacArthur.
