Wana is Hawaiian for the sharp-pointed spines of the sea urchin. Early Hawaiians believed the wana symbolized rays of light that pierce the darkness of the skies in the early morning.  Symbolically, the wana represent a fresh beginning, hope and optimism.  Early Hawaiians wore wana necklaces as a sign of beauty.
